Bernard Tickner presented with MBE medal by Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, at Fullers Mill Garden

Bernard Tickner, 93, was presented with a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) medal by Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, Clare, Countess of Euston, in the company of friends at Fullers Mill Garden on Thursday 28 September 2017. Mr Tickner was awarded an MBE in Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday Honours earlier this year. The award was given in recognition for services to wildlife conservation and horticulture, relating to his voluntary conservation work in Suffolk and for his work at Fullers Mill Garden in West Stow. Perennial Anniversary Woodland Garden officially opened at Dunorlan Park

A native woodland of 175 trees, planted in Dunorlan Park in March 2014 by Sodexo Horticulture Services to mark Perennial’s 175th anniversary, was officially opened this week by Deputy Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, Cllr Len Horwood. The informal ceremony marked the unveiling of a new interpretation board for the woodland listing all those who have trees dedicated to them. Trees were purchased in memory of loved ones making this woodland a truly personal place for the people of Tunbridge Wells. High flying fundraisers raise money for HortAid

Last weekend three fundraisers raised almost £3,000 for HortAid, Perennial’s annual fundraising campaign. Two brave thrill-seekers, Manoj Malde and Gillian Goodson, took to the skies to skydive over Wiltshire, while Brian Hawtin walked an epic 100km in under 24 hours, all to raise money for the charity that is dedicated to helping horticulturists in times of need. Manoj and Gillian, both garden designers, leapt out of a plane at 15,000ft from Netheravon Airfield near Salisbury, both smashing their fundraising targets with more money still coming in.
