Helmingham Hall Gardens

Helmingham, Stowmarket IP14 6EF

Monday 29 July, 11.00am – 3.00pm

Garden tour and lunch included

Helmingham and the Tollemache family have been together for many hundreds of years. The Hall and the old oak trees that stand today have seen much
of the history of England pass before them, and many generations of this family. Helmingham Hall was completed in 1510, surrounded by its deep moat, serene gardens and deer park.

Today the Grade I listed gardens have been extensively redesigned by the current Lady Tollemache, a Chelsea Gold Medallist, a member of The Herbaceous Perennial Committee of the RHS and a frequent judge at RHS Shows. Guests will visit the Parterre, which was redesigned in 1978, and see the magnificent cruciform herbaceous borders that are the highlight of the Kitchen Garden.

Across the moat we will have access to the Wild Flower Garden and Orchard and we will explore the Rose and Knot Gardens which were laid out in 1982, with the intention of creating something similar to the kind of garden the family might have
had in Tudor times. Helmingham Hall was recently crowned the winner of the 2017 Historic Houses Association (HHA) Garden of the Year Award.

There is much to explore and take in around these amazing grounds, including our lunch which will be served in The Coach House Tearooms. We are thrilled to be granted access to these exquisite gardens and to have Lady Tollemache herself as our guide for the day.
