Guided tour with two course lunch by award winning private chef
Perennial are delighted to offer the unique opportunity to visit Wormsley, a 2,700-acre estate dating back to the 12th century. Set in the Chiltern Hills, it is owned by, and remains first and foremost, the Getty family’s private residence.
The Gardens Team will escort us around Wormsley’s 18th century Walled Garden, the restoration of which was a favourite project of Sir Paul and Lady Getty. The Walled Garden was originally laid out according to Richard Woods’ plan in around 1780 and was completely renovated and re-planted following a design masterminded by British garden writer, designer, lecturer and television presenter Penelope Hobhouse, as part of Sir Paul’s seven-year renovation plan in the mid-1980s.
The two-acre garden is split into four rooms, each as distinctive and exquisite as the others, offering guests the opportunity to explore at their leisure. With features such as the beautiful new rose garden, two historical wells, the croquet lawn, a gorgeous pergola and the fantastic mini outdoor theatre, there is plenty for guests to see and do as they wander the length of the garden.
After our tour, we will enjoy a two course lunch prepared by an award winning private chef.
